The management of two high-performance coal ports, located in the West and East of Russia and designed for different markets, provides an opportunity to quickly switch cargo flows in change of the global coal market conditions and for the rhythmic loading of port capacities.

Coal is exported through the seaports of JSC Vostochny Port and JSC Rosterminalugol to more than 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America.

Coal suppliers

The cargo base of JSC Vostochny Port and JSC Rosterminalugol is provided with contracts with coal producers from various coal regions in Russia. The ports handle coal produced by JSC Kuzbassrazrezugol, JSC SUEK, JSC Kolmar, JSC Kuzbass fuel company, JSC Russian coal, JSC Sibuglemet, LLC Promugolservis, JSC Shakhta Belovskaya, LLC Stepanovsky, LLC Bungursky Severny, LLC Arshanovsky, LLC Kiyzassky, LLC Vostochny and other Russian producers.

Collaboration with Russian Railways

The increase in cargo turnover of JSC Vostochny Port and JSC Rosterminalugol is facilitated by cooperation with JSC Russian Railways on the development of the railway infrastructure of ports and the effective use of rolling stock. Rapid delivery of coal from mining sites to ports and work with rolling stock require investment in the construction and modernization of railway stations in the immediate vicinity of ports.

UMMC and Russian Railways show an example of public-private partnership in the construction of the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya railway station in the far East and efficient use of the resources of the Luzhskaya innovation station in the North-West of Russia.

At the expense of UMMC, construction of new full-scale railway parks of the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya station is being carried out at a total cost of 5 bln rubles. The agreement and the technical connection agreement were signed by representatives of the UMMC and Russian Railways President Oleg Belozerov in II Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in 2016. The public railway fleet is transferred to the ownership of JSC " Russian Railways" to ensure synchronous technical management and use by all stevedoring companies located in the area of the "Vostochny Port".

The innovative Luzhskaya railway station in the Leningrad region has significantly increased the capacity of JSC Rosterminalugol for cargo turnover. The system of efficient logistics of freight cars and locomotives built by the port together with JSC "Russian Railways" allowed increasing the loading of coal by reducing the number of combined trains and increasing the volume of payload.
