UMMC Seaport & Railway Projects Service is carrying out a long-term program of modernization and technical re-equipment of managed coal terminals. During the implementation of the program, it managed to achieve the level of 100% automation of work processes.

Only specialized equipment from leading world manufacturers, technologies from Russian research institutes, as well as own developments are used at all stages of reloading coal products and bringing them to the contract fraction. Import-substituting technologies and materials were used in the construction of the Third stage of Vostochny Port.

Due to specialized equipment and high-tech processes it is possible to achieve maximum efficiency in the processes of transshipment, cleaning and bringing coal products to a high contract fraction, as well as to minimize the contact of coal with the environment, prevent dusting and coal contact with the water area.

The terminals have implemented information systems that allow continuous round-the-clock monitoring of all production processes and environmental indicators, as well as real-time exchange of information with JSC "Russian Railways" about the locations of all cars coming to the terminals throughout the Russian Federation. The terminals use the latest technologies to protect the environment and staff health.

Railcar dumpers
The rotary-type covered tandem railcars for innovative high-capacity railcars with a capacity of 3,000 tons per hour allow four 70-ton coal wagons to be unloaded simultaneously in just 3 minutes. They are equipped with systems for restoring flowability and primary cleaning of cargo, pulling and rolling cars, equipped with aspiration units, bag filters and dust suppression systems, including foggers. Do not cause mechanical damage to rolling stock and exclude open dusting of coal when overturning cars. After unloading, the coal enters the conveyor belt through a grid with 280 mm diameter cells, and then it is automatically transported via the conveyor line system, depending on the loading scheme, either to one of the warehouses or directly to the ship.
Stackers and Reclaimers
Coal is shipped from the warehouse by reclaimers with a capacity each of more than 3,000 tons per hour. Reclaimers load belt conveyors that feed the cargo to the transfer stations and then to the berth or warehouse. Stackers each with a capacity of more than 3 tons per hour form stacks of different grades of coal in the coal warehouse.
High-performance shiploaders with a capacity of more than 3 500 tons per hour are equipped with systems for evenly filling the holds of bulk carriers. Machine guides are launched directly inside the hold to prevent dusting and coal contact with the water during loading. For these purposes, the equipment is equipped with a water curtain system. For the first time in Russia they are equipped with additional coal cleaning systems before loading on a ship. They are equipped with powerful neodim magnets (developed by the company). Capable of loading large-capacity capesize bulk carriers with a deadweight of up to 180,000 tons and handling two panamax-class vessels simultaneously.
Conveyor system
Coal unloaded through car dumpers is fed through the conveyor belts to warehouses or ship loading machines, which deliver the cargo cleared to the highest contract fraction directly to the bulk carriers. The terminals use a large number of covered conveyors to minimize dusting. The conveyor transfer stations are equipped with shelters where the air is drawn out by powerful fans and blows through the aspiration systems.
Railcar defrosters
For continuous unloading of loaded railcars in winter times, covered devices for defrosting equipped with infrared emitters are used. The length of the "hothouse" ensures the installation of 80 cars at a time.
Wind- and dustproof shields
Metal wind- and dustproof shields with a height of 20 m are installed along the perimeter of the coal terminal to prevent coal dust from entering the port territory. Windproof shields are necessary in Primorsky region during the period of strong winds coming in the cold season. Depending on the location of the wind shield relative to the wind, it can carry a windproof function (windward side relative to the coal stack) and a dustproof function (downwind side).
Magnetic cleaning systems
Multi-stage magnetic coal cleaning systems developed by terminal specialists include magnetic separators, suspended electromagnets, and electromagnetic drums. They allow to extract iron-containing inclusions and metal objects not only from the surface of the mass of coal on conveyor belts, but also from the lower layer of coal, since the most powerful neodymium magnets are installed above and under the belts. Under the influence of a powerful magnetic field, ferromagnetic particles are attracted to the surface of the conveyor belt at the moment it enters the surface and are held until the conveyor belt exits the drum surface.
Nano-flotation system
The automated treatment system uses the technology of dispersion-reagent nanoflotation of mixed household and stormwater effluents up to the optimal values of the maximum permissible standards for wastewater. It completely cleans drains of coal dust and organic substances. The system significantly reduces the use of chemical reagents for cleaning, and the high efficiency and compactness of the facilities allow to reduce energy consumption. JSC & nbsp; & laquo; Rosterminalugol» also uses a comprehensive drinking water treatment system for the autonomous water supply of the coal terminal. It allows you to purify water taken from the water area of the Luzhskaya Bay of the Gulf of Finland, and bring it to the quality of drinking water. The uniqueness of this technology is that it uses patented membrane CD modules that provide low pressure losses at higher flow rates. Their application in combination with the patented light treatment technology allows you to get the maximum amount of clean drinking water at the outlet.
Irrigation system
The closed car dumper building uses a "dry mist" system: coal spilling out of the cars is covered with a water dome made of fine particles, then the air is pumped out by pumps through the filters of the aspiration system. To create a protective crust on the surface of coal on open warehouses in summer conditions, an irrigation system works, in winter snow generators that spray snow.
Railcar transborders
For the first time in Russia, transborders have been used and are being successfully operated for the operational formation of empty trains on the tracks. With their help, you can speed up the supply of rolling stock on several parallel tracks without using additional switches.
